Tanzania Cycling Safaris

Cycling Safaris

Experience the sunshine of Tanzania on a two-wheel bicycle. Imagine incredible lush green passes, wildlife next to your wheels, and local culture on the journey. Cycling is the perfect way to enjoy the incredible landscapes of Tanzania. When the going gets tough, ride in the support vehicle, and when it’s time to see wildlife, swaps the bike for a jeep or truck

Starting from Arusha We do cycling at Mto wa Mbu and at the basis of Mount Meru

There is lots to enjoy off the bike. Stroll through farm villages, experience the culture of the Maasai people, roast and grind your own coffee, take a safari in search of the rare black rhino and drift off to sleep surrounded by the creatures of the African plains. The weather in this region varies seasonally. Be prepared to get sweaty, and for the occasional cold day and night, which may require a change of plans. It’s all part of the adventure.

There is a support vehicle throughout the journey, so when the going gets tough, feel free to hitch a ride, and when it’s time to see wildlife, swap the bike for a jeep or truck. The cycling distances are mostly short, but the roads can be rough, the terrain can be hilly and the climate warm, so you’ll need to be reasonably fit. Some routes are incredibly easy, though, like the long and winding descent into the stunning Great Rift Valley, which you can freewheel all the way.

Full Day Mto Wa Mbu Village Cycling around Lake Manyara

Departing from the campsite /lodge we cycle around Mto wa Mbu village and the famous Lake Manyara National Park. We cycle close to the southern shores of Lake Manyara and will almost certainly spot some game here – zebra, giraffe and wildebeest. The Rift Valley wall is in sight all day as we cycle through a number of Maasai homesteads. Possible sightings of wildlife as we cross over the open plains. We have our packed lunch under an acacia tree during the heat of the day before cycling on and arriving into our lodge late afternoon
